Quality of glass is horrible
TerBear9999

We bought this stovetop model from Lowe™™s to replace an old stovetop. The first one we bought was cracked right out of the box, so we went back to Lowe™™s and got another one. We ensured that the second unit was handled very carefully during transit and unpacking and discovered that the second one was cracked as well. This is extremely frustrating and to us, indicates a manufacturing issue. After reading other reviews about the glass and how easy it is to scratch or damage the glass surface, we will be returning the stovetop for store credit and we will look for another stovetop with more positive reviews. We have many KitchenAid products, including a refrigerator, dishwasher, and of course, the stand mixer and never experienced manufacturing issues before. We will not attempt to buy or use any other KitchenAid stovetop, and will think carefully before buying any other KitchenAid appliance in the future.

I LOVEmy cooktop! It looks fantastic. Getting used to how easily it gets marred up is going to continue to be sad. Any water drops on the outside of a pot/pan or running down the side
when the steamer is doing it's job seems to
make for continual cleaning. So far that is the only negative thing. All the burner size options and heating is exactly as our sales lady said.

Still getting used to new cooktop. The only thing I would mention is that its hard to see the outline of the burners. Have to put pan as close as possible and then adjust when it gets red.

I bought new cooktop in August. Live alone and do not cook much. Cooktop looks old already. White spots pop up, heat marks from under glass that won™™t go away. Kitchenaid™™s should not sell this product. I keep a spotless kitchen and this cooktop is embarrassing. Cannot be cleaned away.

I would have been happier if the knob controls had been aligned vertically to the side rather than horizontally directly in front for the 36" model. Additionally, the foam lining around the perimeter was shredded upon product arrival and that suggested a rather shoddy attention to detail. I have called on KitchenAid customer support to requesting a repair team to my home to examine the product and make appropriate repairs or modifications.

Was part of builder's package in newly built house. Seems to cook well and evenly. Cleanup is easy of course but I find it to smear easily regardless of cleaning with soapy water or Weimann's stove top cleaner. Takes a lot of careful buffing to get out the strokes left after the cleaning process.

Cooktop material problematic- warranty not honored
Remodeler1
6/6/2025
Defective cooktop got permanent white marks right away (and internal smoke, but that cleared up). Warranty support sent someone out who reported the unit was safe to use and didn™™t include his own opinion that the cooktop material was a problem. ™Support™ then suggested using Affresh although I explained it was the material, not food debris. Bought it and used Affresh of course didn™™t fix the problem, now ™support™ declares the problem ™cosmetic™ and not covered by warranty. I have a brand new kitchen full of KitchenAid appliances, and all looks great except the cooktop looks like it™™s been very used and abused for years! How can that be OK for a new cooktop under warranty? Answer: it™™s not.

My previous cooktop was a delight. It was installed approximately 1996 and I loved it. This new one is a big disappointment! The cermamic-glass top is a different material. Possibly metal coils in the surface and it is a chore to clean. There is no simple wiping it clean!!!!! If I have a boil over it takes an hour to clean the surface.
I don't know who your engineers, designers or whatever you call them are thinking but they obviously do not cook on what they have created because it is a disaster! I will never buy another Kitchenaid applicance. I purchased an expensive 48" Kitchenaid built-in 1.5 years ago and hate it. Loved my first one I had since 1996. This new one is sickening to say the least!!!!!! You people at Kitchenaid need to improve your appliances or you may not have a bright future. You have lost me as a happy customer and I can never recommend your products.

We had to replace our KitchenAid electric cooktop after 20 years (that I loved) and it has been installed about 2 months. I had replaced double ovens, microwave, dishwasher (about 7 years ago) and refrigerator(last year) all KitchenAid. I despise the new Refrigerator! Loved the old one. Wanting to keep all my appliances the same I decided to go with the 36 " Electric Cooktop with 5 Elements and Knob Controls and despise it, also! What has happened to KitchenAid? Their more recent appliances are poorly designed and do not perform well! The cooktop has to be cleaned every time I cook and heaven forbid if anything boils over or if anything sticks to the burners! I am not an engineer but I can tell you the materials and the designer of the more recent KitchenAid appliances is pathetic and needs to use his/her own products!!
I would not recommend buying any KitchenAid products! They need to catch up with their competition!

I bought this a month ago to update my kitchen. My previous stovetop was a kitchenaid also. It was 15 years old and still worked great. It showed lots of wear & hard to keep shining clean. I love my new one. It was an easy decision to make due to customer reviews. Yes it cost more than I expected & wanted to spend, however, you do get what you pay for. It also fit my space well without any further, construction.

We had to replace the Kitchen Aid top we had and chose this one. Apparently, and we did not know it, but the top we DID have was one of the "Best' Tops Kitchen Aid makes. Well . . . that's good, except I apparently killed it AND we were super crazy about the big fan motor and vent that was under the cabinet for that particular model. Happier with this top, but BOY are they hard to keep clean!!

This unit was installed in our new build 3 years ago. While the elements work well, the glass surface is subpar compared to our inexpensive range from Sears. The chrome base for the knobs come unattached from the glass. A chip on the edge of the side resulted in a large crack from it to one of the unsecured Knob holes (caused by a weakness, I would imagine). The surface scratches easily, my old range had my teenagers using it and when cleaned looked as new as the day it was installed, not the case with this one. Also, some odd squiggly lines showed up beneath the surface after just a few uses. I have been very unhappy with this. Would NOT recommend

We bought a full kitchen suit from KitchenAid and love the styling. The cooktop unfortunately is lacking in power. We moved from an older home that had a KitchenAid cooktop from the 80's in the kitchen and it still worked beautifully. It out cooked the new model hands down.
Our wall mounted microwave is quite disappointing too. It seems underpowered. It won't fully pop a bag of popcorn. The Amazon microwave we had before, that was 1/8th the price, would drink the KitchenAid microwave under the table and then steal his girl.

Replaced my 1998 KitchenAid appliances. Did this as it would fit and electrical in same place but it wasn™™t and my husband had to tweak it to get the electrical to the area of the electrical box.
When we ordered this, told it was special order but 5 in the wearhouse and she called to verify it could be delivered the same time as other appliances. We removed the cook top the night before the delivery and it was not on the delivery truck. Sales person refused to give me the regional rep she called, so I only had her word an at this point I did not feel she was reliable but giving me lip service. Customer service should go up to the rep if necessary.

I have had KitchenAid appliances for many decades. I previously used electric cooktops with no difficulty. But this one is a great disappointment as I can not see the burner outlines until they are heating up and "glowing" which makes pan placement challenging. In addition, the glossy black glass is horrible to keep clean. I wipe, use the KitchenAid cleaner and a microfiber cloth and yet smudges and streaks appear.

I am for the most part quite happy with our Kitchen Aid 36" stove top.
My only complaints are that the heating elements are not easy to determine where they are until you turn them on and see the red of the burner. The placement of the center element is awkward and again hard to find unless I turn it on first. Last, and this seems to be universal with black stovetops ... it is almost impossible to clean.
Just an aside: Our last stovetop (a Whirlpool) only lasted three years before we started having problems with the elements and had to replace it. We are hoping that the Kitchen Aid will have a longer life span. Contact me in three years and if it is still working I'll give you a 5 star rating

Kitchen Aid Glass Stovetop Quality
rgtalk
6/15/2024
Radiant stove top appearance is very nice. The ceramic glass top is easy to maintain and clean with the Affresh ceramic stove top cleaner. The other brand Weiman is good but can be a bit too aggressive if too much pressure is applied while rubbing gunk from cooking. I do use the Weiman glass top cleaners first to clean the ceramic glass top first and I apply the Affresh to remove the stains the spray can™™t. Affresh has can rub out most cooking stains. Again the Kitchen Aid ceramic stove top is very attractive, but the two BIG negatives for me is the on off switch. A few of the knobs are wobbly and do not feel secure and not built well. First 2 knobs from the left feel a little wobbly. Not imagining this! The last 3 knobs feel a bit more secure, but not by much. The bezel on top of the glass top is so cheaply applied I was shocked. The bezel (like a trim ring) is only put in place by a glue like substance. It™™s not even screwed into the glass top. This is called cheaping out making production costs lower, the reason I know is while I was cleaning and got some spray around the bottom edges, it caused the bezel to loosen off center and I removed the knob to see how it was secured. To my great surprise and disappointment this bezel was held in place by a glue like substance. It should haven been screwed in, not glued.
So this is it in a nutshell!!!
I can™™t say what™™s he longevity trga
