This is the second Speed Queen we've owned. After 15 years of heavy use, we decided to replace our older model instead of fixing it. This new model is nice, but I do miss the features on the old one...multiple load size selections, opening the lid while still filling with water, normal wash without the "eco" features, and no beeps. Hoping those push buttons don't wear out...also preferred the knobs on the older model. The cost was also almost 2.5 times as much. I'm still getting used the changes, but overall I'm still happy with buying a Speed Queen, made in the USA, washing machine, especially that the lid doesn't lock. We hope this one will last at least as long as our previous one.

We absolutely do not know what we were thinking since 1967. Yes when we got married. First washer machine. It Was go with the flow Plus money was tight. Not even knowing of speed queen. Over the years washing machines came and went. As years passed the live of the machines got short yes with new technology. Machines are not made not to last and parts are not available. As a male not knowing of Speed Queen but over the years Sandy my wife ask about Speed Queen. As her grandmother lasting a life time. Our 2 yr old Maytag was leaking oil from the transmission. 4 machine in 6 yrs all guy one lasting one week. So we did the big purchase the Speed Queen. This machine is old school easy to operate no big special rises n crazy settings. Seems drives etc are also old school. Sandra loves the operation and the ease of washing and the great cleaning of all clothing. Thank you for you commitment to make life simple and manufacturing of this great machine

I've owned this washer for over 4 years with no issues whatsoever. It is solidly built in the USA and it washes very well in a short amount of time. It is not a complicated machine, but has every cycle that I need and does not require an app, Wi-Fi, or complicated instructions to operate. It finishes most loads in about 30 minutes, depending on options and cycle selected. It also does not define cold, warm and hot for you. If you choose cold, it's cold from the line, hot is the hot water from your water heater, and warm is a 50/50 mixture of the two. There is also a cool temperature which briefly uses warm and then fills the rest of the way up with cold but I rarely use that. I'm very pleased with my investment and figure it'll last for many more years to come.

Cheapest made but most expensive you can buy

The biggest piece of junk I've ever owned. The first one had to be replaced (after a big fight with both Bob Wallace appliance and speed queen) because the inside was separated with sharp metal edges that would snag clothes, and the new one did the same thing so they replaced the drum in it making it an expensive refurbished "new" one, which is also made of inferior metal and not the smoothest inside but so far hasn't ruined any clothes. Seems like corners are being cut to save money on Speed Queens part and i make sure to let everyone I know far and wide what low quality it is just standing on an old name. My parents have the same one I got but it's 7 years old and made so much better than mine.

Not happy as I should be

I purchased Speed Queen because of the reliability reviews…..at 6 months this washer started high pitch squealing when I got to laundry room it was filled with smoke. Something with the pulley/tension spring/belt malfunctioned. Took a week to get part, even the tech said this never should have happened. Now I worry everytime I use it. 20 years ago I had a SQ front load washer and it worked flawlessly.

Absolutely love this machine. it has cleaned our clothes much better, in a 1/4 of the time of our previous Whirlpool set. It has been a great machine so far and I love the fact that it can actually be repaired if there is ever a need rather than having to go buy a new set as all of the other brands have gone to. It is so wasteful to be forced into replacing a whole machine rather than fixing it. I love that this is a US company with such a long history building basically the same wash and dryer for decades.

I really like the simplicity and rigidity of this washer. It is as close as you can get to the Build quality of our countries past when things were built with pride and built to last. There is nothing on it that is unnecessary. It doesn't need no stinking app to turn it on, it doesn't send me emails, it does have an annoying lid lock, but it most certainly does a great job washing clothes. If you're looking for a nice robust no frills washing machine, look no farther! This is by far the smoothest running washer we have ever owned! A nice improvement would be to make the drain hose about a foot longer. It's just barely long enough to reach into the drainpipe in our laundry room which doesn't allow enough slack to clip it into the plastic retainer clip on the back of the machine to keep it from rattling.

My clothes actually get washed in water!

I disliked my last washing machine from the first load, because it thought it was smarter than I was. Even the deep fill option would not even cover the clothes with enough water to get them fully wet. The speed queen actually puts enough water into the drum to swish the clothes around and wash them in a reasonable amount of water so the dirt can wash away. I don't even need to use the deep fill option on the speed queen, because it is smart enough to know how much water is needed to wash my clothing! It has enough options on it for what I need to wash my various items. And it takes about half the time of my last machine, while getting them so much cleaner.

Love my washer! It washes a load in a fraction of the time. My Maytag used to take 1-1.5hrs for the heavy duty cycle. Speed queen is under 30mins and gets them cleaner! 12 years ago I purchased a Speed Queen commercial washer and dryer pair. Both have been excellent. I just purchased another pair and I am disappointed that government regulation for safety and energy efficiency have decreased the quality of these machines. While the TC5 washer still resembles the model from 12 years ago and claims to not have the lid lock safety feature, the machine stops operating when the lid is raised. When loading the machine and liquid detergent is added, water will not dilute the detergent before clothes are added with the lid raised. Clothes should never come into contact with undiluted detergent due to staining. The 12 year old machine will allow the tub to begin filling with the lid raised. Clothes can then be added while the tub continues to fill. The new TC5 will not do that. Adding the clothes pin to the lid lock mechanism is an easy fix to defeat this unnecessary "safety" feature, but at least include a switch to have this feature turned on or off based on preference. Otherwise, this washing machine is a great choice and is expected to provide many years of service.

I have always owned Speed Queen washers and dryers due to thier build quality, reputation and that they are made in the USA. My washer's tub rusted out after 15 years. I thought the tub was stainless steel but turns out the tub itself is metal and the part you put your clothes into is stainless steel. I was able to do 4 loads before the new washer shutdown with error code indicating a clog. The company that we purchsed from sent a tech out immediately. The filter at the back of the machine had some debris and was cleaned. The tech noticed the screen filters for hot and cold water had not been installed by the crew that delivered the machine. He put in screen filters. Since then, several weeks have passeed and it has stopped 3 more times with the same error code saying something is clogged. I have to reset the machine and start the load over again. I have well water but my prior speedd queen washer worked flawlessly in this area. I really don't know what to say at this point.

I was debating if I wanted to take the time to speak out about my disappointments regarding my recently purchased TC5003WN washer... but since Speed Queen sent me an Email requesting my thoughts, here goes. First, it needs to be stated that I previously owned an older version of this basically same washer, which I used a lot for approximately 15 years. It never failed in any way that I can recall... so I was pretty happy with the overall quality. I decided I wanted a brand new Speed Queen washer, thinking that it was simply a good time for an update, and having a fresh start with a new machine I could hopefully have for another 15 years of dependable service. I read on their website what Speed Queen stated about the latest version, the TC5003WN, which was advertised as being a duplicate of all the things and features the older versions were known for. Sounded perfect to me... THAT is what I wanted. I purchased it, and installed the machine without any issue. BUT once I got around to do my very first load of wash... I quickly came to the dissapointing realization there were some very important operational features that were completely eliminated with the TC5003WN, which l believe were made based tin some pretty stupid decisions. Keep in mind that the following issues did NOT exist with the previous versions of this washing machine. 1- The BIGGEST ISSUE... is the fact that the user essentially has no real control of the amount of water that will be consumed in each cycle. It is either 13 gallons OR 19 gallons (if selected for maximum loads). THIS is a really bad thing if you live in a community that needs to be concerned about water consumption (as is the case where we are under a long lasting drought). Everyone occasional has the need to do just a small load of wash, something that technically would require perhaps only like 3 or 4 gallons of water per cycle. This means literally 20 gallons of extra water (at minimum) is being unnecessarily added and is being completed wasted. Not at all water conservative! BTW...The older versions of this washer had a completely variable setting for the user to dial in the appropriate amount of water. The worst thing about this... is that I found out (from Speed Queen's own customer service rep when I inquired about this) is that this is the ONLY machine that Speed Queen offers that doesn't have an adjustable water setting. WHY??!! 2- The water valve that automatically shuts off water flow from filling tub when the lid is opened (which sometimes is needed) is again totally unnecessary and in some cases an annoying time wasting feature. 3- The updated "high tech" controlling built into this new washer, actually limits the user for specific washing situations. BOTTOM LINE... this latest version (even though so far it is functioning as it was designed to do), IS NOT as good as the "Grandma's old Speed Queen" which it was advertised to be.

It does not work as specified. You have to add vinegar, 2tbsp detergent, and fabric softener, to keep bubbles from coming out of the drain pipe. They have refused to exchange or give me my money back

I LOVE THIS SET!!!!! My clothes are washed quickly and they come out super clean!!!! I can put a good size load in the washer and dryer and it's handled like a champ!!!!!
