We received the refrigerator along with our new house™¦ the ice maker isn™™t working correctly. The first month it was just spraying water in the ice box and making a mess in there. Now recently it™™s been leaking all through out the fridge an it ruining my food.

I got rid of my 10 yr old model that was larger and much more efficient. This one came with a dent in the bottom door. No help from whirlpool. It's also FREEZING on a shelf less then a year. That's part of the reason I bought a new fridge. There is no quality control before shipment. Scratch and dent!
With that said... If your single or don't overfill your fridge and can get one without dents, it's okay. It's better for simple use due to size.

I read the other reviews about issues with Whirlpool appliances. Unfortunately, I read them too late. Many people noted that their appliances stopped working months or a year after purchase. My refrigerator stopped working LESS than two WEEKS after installation. No local repair shops would touch it because of the 12 month warranty even though I was willing to just pay the repair costs myself. Being left with no choice, I scheduled a repair through the Whirlpool website on July 10, 2026. The earliest appointment was 10 days later on July 20, 2026. When the appointment time came and went, I called the appliance store providing the repair service. They said Whirlpool never sent them the service ticket. Moreover, the appliance store only provides repair services to my area one day a week, Thursdays. Not on Mondays, which is when Whirlpool scheduled my repair. Since I had already waited 10 days for repair on a refrigerator I had only owned for 15 days, the appliance store graciously offered to squeeze me in on Thursday, July 23rd. When I called Whirlpool to have them actually send a service ticket, I was greeted with customer service reps, who knew only how to read from scripts. They kept trying to schedule another repair for Friday, July 24th despite me telling them SEVERAL times that the appliance store already informed me that they only do repairs in my area on Thursdays. Therefore, I was now looking at yet another week with a brand new, non working fridge. Whirlpool informed me that they did not have any other service opportunities for my area; and if they needed to go outside my area to find a repair service, it could take several more weeks. The customer service representative coldly told me that they only send the service tickets - which apparently they do not at least not in a timely fashion. They exhibited ZERO sense of urgency, accountability, or empathy. No acknowledgement that they sold me a defective product AND failed to submit the appropriate service request. I was met with indifference and a refusal by them to have a conversation as they hide behind their party lines and their scripts. So here I sit, going on three weeks, with a brand new non working Whirlpool fridge. I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product. Their products are subpar, and their customer service, or lack thereof, is atrocious. Their customer service reps would do well as a customer service rep in medical insurance.

We've only been using this since 6/26/26. So far everything is working like it should and we are very happy with this refrigerator. It is a nice looking unit and the main shelves are easy to adjust. The 2 crisper drawers are very roomy. It would be nice if the door shelves were adjustable, however they do work nicely the way they are. It is deeper than our previous unit and we like that a lot. It seems to cool very well and evenly, even when it's very dull.

We bought this fridge 15 months ago the freezer stopped working and Whirlpool wouldn't cover it under warranty! Really the fridge should last at least 10 years before having to replace it! But hey thanks for not helping me at all Whirlpool! I will NEVER buy Whirlpool again!!!!

The unit continues to cycle on and off. The freezer must of had a faulty seal because it immediately began to form icicles from the ceiling that would periodically melt then refreeze. We returned the unit to the retailer.

This has been the worst refrigerator I ever had in 50 years. Not only is it noisy, but the ice maker will wake up the dead. It is so loud, when I had friends over they were startled by the sudden, LOUD NOISES, COMING FROM IT. ALSO, the ice maker decides for you what you get, crushed or cubed. Unfortunately, the company and technician said it was normal. Also, the technician was out 4 times because of the water laying on top of the freezer door. Sadly, I have to keep it until it dies. Also, the Type A water filter is ridiculously priced, $50.00

I am very pleased with the our new refrigerator/freezer. When I close the refrigerator door it seals to the body of the refrigerator very nicely. The noise is low when it runs and the freezer keeps the items frozen consistently..
I really like the sliding vegetable and fruit bins. They really open and close smoothly.

I purchased the refrigerator from Home Depot in December 2025. Shortly after it was delivered and plugged in, I noticed a rubbing/grinding noise (it seems to be coming from the freezer). I had it returned and got a replacement. The second one is not as noisy but makes the same sound.
Other than the noise, it works as expected.

The only stainless steel finish available for the WRT318FZDM model is Monochromatic Stainless Steel.
It appears that through a manufacturing error, the freezer door was finished in Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel.
- The freezer door has a smooth finish while on the fridge door you can feel the stainless steel grain.
- The photo shows that the reflection in the freezer door is more detailed since Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel has a coating.
- How is this possible? This finish is NOT available on the WRT318FZDM model.
I called Whirlpool since we wanted the fridge to be replaced - if there was 1 manufacturing error, then there are probably others.
- I spoke to a CSR who asked me to respond to her text with a photo.
- She reviewed the photo and agreed that the doors had different finishes, but said I had to speak to a supervisor.
- Eventually I was connected with a supervisor.
- He was dismissive and rude.
- He looked at the photo and said he could not see any difference in the door finishes and if there was it was just a cosmetic problem!
- I said I would post a bad review - he responded that Whirlpool didn't care about bad reviews!

I bought this a month ago and noticed inferior workmanship in the steel sheet bending execution. The lower door (refrigerator door) upper right corner has some protruding sharp corner, which potentially would hurt consumer. There seems to be some production quality control loop hole

Poor engineering. The cooling is in the freezer only and it shares the cold to the refrigerator portion by means of an adjustable vent. The system doesn™™t work. For example, the freezer does not freeze hard ice cream while the refrigerator portion is at 38 degrees. I tried adjusting the shutter but no luck.

I was putting a dish in and my elbow grazed the plastic pieces that gets pushed in to turn the light on and the flimsy plastic broke and a spring popped out. Move the location or make the piece more robust.

I bought this refrigerator a year ago. It makes a gurgling sound that is very annoying to me. I had service come out, but the repair person said the noise was normal. The surface of the refrigerator seems to collect more smudges than my other stainless steel appliances.

This refrigerator keeps my food cold and fresh, however I have had a few problems. The first problem I experienced was that the vent in the ceiling of the refrigerator would drip water at random times leaving a puddle on the top shelf of the refrigerator itself. Then somehow a puddle would form in the bottom of the freezer and freeze over and turn into a huge sheet of ice. I don't know if these two problems are related. Also, the gasket on the top of the refrigerator door is loose and comes off when I open the door.

Bought this unit ™brand new™ from an appliance store, days one made weird noise by freezer; fridge worked fine randomly got too cold had to put on lowest setting. Freezer just wouldn™™t cut it would get to like 5 degrees once a day then I™™d check the temp throughout the day and it was like 30 degrees in the freezer! That™™s not gonna work then whirlpool send a repair company out and he deemed it irreparable? Help! Now I have to get a smaller unit or whatever they have

I brought this unit by accident because I was looking for the one size larger. The 20 cu. ft. Whirlpool refrigerator with ice maker. Would Whirlpool be able to take my 18 cu.ft refrigerator back in on trade for the upgraded 20 cu.ft refrigerator?

Bought the fridge in April of this year and the "stainless steel" already is rusting by August. Ill attach pictures. The best part is, its not covered in the warranty! Why they would use such poor quality materials I have no idea.
We also have a dishwasher that is whirlpool and who knows how old (probably at least 5 years old) with no rust at all.
So I am assuming whirlpool knows its materials are low quality so thats why they have it as not covered. Never even wiped it down with anything because we dont have kids or animals that would smudge it up.
2 stars because it actually works.

New refrigerator installed 9/23/25 just after a few days. Noticed freezer not freezing items as it should. Contractor came yesterday and confirmed evaporator fan defective. Needs to be replaced. He did say that that's unusual for a refrigerator this new. I'm now fearful that other parts will become defective after the warranty is up. Very disappointed with this Whirlpool appliance
